Welcome
My name is Devir Kahan. I write The Geek's Companion with the goal of making you a better geek.
Well, Define Geek
Geek [gēk]
1. someone who, usually obsessively, pursues particular subjects
2. when used without a delimiter: someone who is a technology enthusiast
There are great debates over just what, precisely, the correct definiton of 'geek' is, but I think the above does them all justice. The important thing here is that geeks do care about more than just technology and computers. Being a geek is a way of life — of which technology, for so many reasons, plays a big part. But it really is an outlook on just about everything. Here, why don't you take a look at this handy chart I recreated based on this one — as you can see, being a geek is where you want to be:

Now, What Is "The Geek's Companion"?
Simply put, TGC is an online magazine with various different sections that are all filled with things that'll make you a better geek. It's the contemporary geek's best friend. If you love pro-tips and tricks, great and useful ideas, tutorials and explanations, buying tips and pointers, and anything else that would help you live the geek life, you'll love this site. And, remembering our definition of a geek, TGC transcends the unfortunate "tech-only" cliché and gives that same treatment to everything and anything a geek would be ineterested in. A large part of that is indeed technology, but that doesn't come at the expense of anything else here. Whether it’s movies, music, life, gadgets, books, grammar, science, or style... nothing is out of bounds and everything is interesting and informative.
As the tagline says, everything you read here aims to better some part of your geeky lifestyle.
Everything Else
I highly recommend you browse around the site to get a real good feel for what it has to offer. Take a look at its sections. Throw the RSS feed in your reader. Search for topics that interest you. Enjoy.
About Me & Colophon
My name is Devir Kahan and I live in an undisclosed location somewhere in New York. I really hope you thoroughly enjoy this website. You can read more about it above. I also reinvented the "YouTube tech channel" with TDKN and host some great shows there. You can see all of the other things I do over here.
Setup
My current main computer is the wonderful 27" iMac (late 2010) with a 1TB HD, 4GB of RAM, and a dual-core 3.20GHz Intel i3 processor. Best computer I've owned. It replaced my old, first Intel white iMac from way-back-when.
I also have a 13" MacBook that is getting less and less use as my iPad (the new one) gets more and more use. (That new MacBook Air looks pretty sweet too, though.)
In also have an iPhone 4 which I love dearly. It's homescreen looks like this.
